Self-portrait Tom W. Quinn
An artist's self-portrait is often one of the most penetrating examples of the genre. This is surely true, here. On first encounter, we acknowledge not much more than the presence of a well-groomed, mature, man. In no time, however, we note the head held high, the cool gaze and the economy with which the portrait has been conveyed. There is no flamboyance; no self-conscious intensity. There is just a quiet, dignified, very astute, gaze.
The portrait is presented in what we believe to be its original frame.
