The Greenhouse Charles Genge
This picture tells us of Charles Genge's pleasure in a few trees, an incidental greenhouse and a rare, gloriously sunny, day. There is also, of course, another layer of significance. Genge is experimenting with ideas which were derived from French Post-Impressionism and, especially, Les Fauves. His startling colour, insistent manipulation of paint and abbreviated forms lends this composition a bold and expressive individuality.
